Creative Artist Awards
Overview
NC State’s Arts program runs a yearly competition that aims to recognize original work in music, dance and theatre created by students. I was tasked with giving this program an identity that fit within the greater NCSU brand, while also standing out on it’s own.
The Mark
I knew this project would require a memorable mark that represented the three categories students could submit work under. The stacked bars representing music, the “eye” representing theatre, and the “macaroni” representing Dance.
I knew from the start of this project I wanted to create an identifier based in abstraction and minimalist design to break from the traditional mold found in other NCSU marketing campaigns.
The Campaign
The expanded marketing campaign was done in traditional NC State fashion, through digital marketing. Digital “billboards” that can be found on campus in various locations on campus and through instagram story ads.
Each submission category was given it’s own billboard and story. To increase the visibility and contrast between the different ads, the category was highlighted by making the category specific element a light gray rather than a dark.
